VTF-2 MkII or VTF-3 MkII in my apartment?

After reading many posts here—and trading emails with the very helpful Hsu tech people—I'm on the VTF-2/VTF-3 cusp. I think I've decided on a VTF-2 MkII for my smallish 1-bdrm apartment; I just ordered it. The living room is 12 x 15 with 10.2' ceilings = 1836 cubic feet. But you could argue that the entrance hall and kitchen are just an extension of the living room, which would make the total dimensions closer to 14 x 23 with 9' ceilings (averaging ceiling heights), for a total area of about 2900 cubic feet. There's also one opening (3.6' x 8.1') into a tiny bedroom.

Based on room size, do you think a VTF-3 would be the better sub? I ordered the VTF-2 MkII (piano black) because I don't watch a ton of action/adventure films, plus I'm afraid I'd rarely get to take advantage of the VTF-3 living in an apartment. Any thoughts?

I think the Vtf- 2MK2 is going to a wonderful job for you.I have an older model Vtf-2 in a 13.5x20x7.5 room and it does a super job for me.You are going to be pleasantly suprised on just how powerful a sub you have there .Enjoy.

Thumbs up

I also have an open floor plan, with a 17 x 18 HT room, but openings into most of the rest of a 2400 s/ft home, and even with just a STF-2, it does an awesome job.

I think that you'll be very happy with a VTF-2, enjoy your purchase!
Happy holidays,
-Glenn

VTF-2

I rarely vote for anything other than a VTF-3 MK2 but this time I will say the VTF-2 because you have an apartment. When you rob enough banks to buy your mansion, then the VTF-3 MK2 will do nicely.

Anyway you look at it, you can't lose with HSU products.

Hans Gruber is right (as are the rest of 'em) the VTF-2 MkII you ordered should be a great addition, however, pay no attention to his bank robber comments, last I saw he was headed south out of a 26th floor window...of course, if your apartment is similarly situated and your neighbors are duds, the MkII could also get you tossed.

Furthermore, my Hsu purchases tend to be additive as opposed to replacements. You have a great foundation to build on if the addiction takes hold.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. My VTF-2 MkII arrived and it seems to be perfect for my space. (And as an unexpected surprise, the Piano Black finish is beautiful! Wasn't expecting it to be so nice.)
