New...Need help!

Hello Dr. Hsu and all members! I finally have my own place to call home and am slowly putting together my living room entertainment masterpiece! I already mounted a VApex 120 inch motorized screen and have an epson 8350 (good deal on black Friday!).

Here is my problem. The room is about 16w x 30l x 9h. the rear 1/3 of the room is for dining and there is an open kitchen on the side that i didn't include in the measurements. Because of the kitchen side I will have to ceiling mount at least 2, if not 4, of my possible speakers for 7.1 system.

I am looking to get the Hybrid 7.1 system and power it with either a Denon AVR-1912 or Yamaha RX-V 671. Will this be a good system for me. 50-50 music/movies....some tv and gaming? My seating position will be about 16-17 feet away from screen.

I would really like some feed back and help choosing the correct receiver ans speakers/mounts....

Thanks to everyone in advanced!

Hi jaflores, welcome to the forum, congrats on your new home!

Yes, the Hybrid 15 (7.1) package system should work great. That said, I'm not entirely sure how easy it is to ceiling mount the HB-1 MK2. If you can run some speaker wire up there, then perhaps you can install some HIW-1 horn in-wall speakers up there.

The VTF-15H subwoofer is the right choice to fill such a large and open space.

Thanks

Sincerely,

Thanks for the reply, Pete. The only concern I have with the in wall speakers is positioning the horn for good sound while in the ceiling. I haven't heard any reviews on them......but I do believe you may be getting an order in a few days

You are most welcome! Keep in mind that you can mix and match HB-1 MK2 with HIW-1 in the Hybrid package system for no extra cost. If you go with in-wall speakers in the ceiling, then orient them so that the horn tweeter is closer to your ear than the 6.5" diameter woofer. Same rule of thumb applies to the bookshelf speaker too.

Thanks so much

Sincerely,

I'm thinking my best choice would be 4 in walls for sides and rears and 2 reg + center to round out the package. The side speakers would be ceiling mounted and the rears would go on the back wall just above ear height. The center channel will be mounted off the front wall pretty low because of the screen and the mains would be on stands. What do you think?

Sounds good to me! In our own demo room we are using two HB-1 MK2 and one HC-1 MK2 up front, with two HIW-1 in the rear. Works great!

Sincerely,
